Cynthia Meyers
Our May concert focuses on heightening our awareness of the earth and our relationship to it. Peter Askim’s As Glaciers Thaw is a sweeping tone poem that follows the annual cycle of melting and freezing of majestic glaciers.
Cynthia Meyers joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra as its piccolo player in 2006. Prior to that, she served as principal piccolo of the Houston Symphony and principal flutist of the Omaha Symphony. We’re thrilled to have Cindy as our soloist in Arthur Foote‘s romantic Night Piece.
Steven Laven
We’re very excited to be presenting the World Premiere of Steven Laven’s Among the Trees, based on the life of the Oglala Sioux chief, Crazy Horse. Written as a set of variations in the concerto grosso tradition, it will feature Steve on cello and Charles Dimmick on violin.
